Gerald D. ? Blondie? Bonnell, 79, 905 E. Berkley St., Plymouth, Ind., formerly of Star City and Culver, Ind., died of natural causes in Miller?s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001.
Born in Pulaski County, Ind., the son of Serin and Bertha Irene Marvin Bonnell, on Oct. 7, 1922, Blondie attended Fairview School in Pulaski County.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Culver Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On March 15, 1946, in Rochester, Ind., Blondie and Dolly A. Nitzschke were married.
He was a self-employed building contractor, an avid fisherman and enjoyed and followed all Notre Dame sports.
In addition to Dolly, his wife of 55 years, Blondie is survived by a daughter and son and their spouses. They are: Patricia Ann and Gary Rogers, Rochester, Ind., and Steven Paul and Linda Bonnell, Brandon, Fla.
Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive together with a brother, Arnold and Florine Bonnell, Mishawaka, Ind.
Blondie was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Dennis Jay and Gerald Lee Bonnell and three brothers: Kenneth, Cecil, and Keith Bonnell and two sisters, Sylvia Balder and Marge Killenberger.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, are handling the arrangements. There will be no visitation and no services.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
Memorials in Blondie?s memory may be made to the Marshall County Cancer Society.
