William D. Hubbard

January 6, 1923 - December 5, 2006

       William D. ?Bill? Hubbard, 83, a lifetime resident of Marshall and Starke Counties, died of natural causes after experiencing declining health, at his home, 805 Baker St., River Park, in Plymouth. Bill died at 8:47 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006.
      
       Bill was born in Walkerton, Indiana, the son of William E. and Bertha Harness Hubbard, on January 6, 1923.
      
       He attended Plymouth schools and later earned his G.E.D.
      
       In the United States Army from 1943 through 1945, during World War II, Bill was a Private 1st Class with the 597 Bombardment Squadron, landing at Normandy. He was awarded six Bronze Stars for distinguishing himself with meritorious and heroic service.
      
       A tool and die worker for McCord?s Corp., Bill worked in Plymouth for 18 years. He retired in 1985.
      
       He enjoyed traveling to Florida?s Treasure Island area and fishing its? waters. He also had a lifelong interest in mining and made countless trips out West to various mining fields.
      
       A Member of the V.F.W. Post 1162 and the American Legion Post 27, Bill also was a member of the Moose Lodge 741 and the Marshall County Humane Society.
      
       He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Hubbard.
      
       There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held in Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana, at 10 a.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday, December 9th with military honors provided by the American Legion, Post 27.
      
       Memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society.
