Charles ?Roy? Weigle, 83, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, died following an extended illness at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2001, in Miller?s Merry Manor, Plymouth. Roy had resided with his wife at 501 Pennsylvania Ave.
Roy was born at home in North Township, Plymouth, on May 13, 1918, the son of George and Ada May Cox Weigle. He attended Washington School in Plymouth.
On March 28, 1941, in Plymouth Roy married Wreatha L. Rusk, who survives.
Roy was a dedicated employee, he began an over 50 year career beginning with the Plymouth Canning Co. and retiring from DelMonte Corp. on January 31, 1983.
Fishing the local lakes occupied most of Roy?s past time, he also enjoyed hunting small game, travel and time spent with family. Since 1985 he has been a member of the Plymouth Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving with his wife are four children, his daughters are; Janice M. and Steve Miller; Merry L. and Robert Price all of Plymouth and sons Richard W. and Arlene Weigle of Roselle, Ill. and David A. and Sandy Weigle of Arlington, Texas. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive along with a sister Bertha M. Jackson of LaPorte and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, November 6, 2001, from 4 ? 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2001, in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 S. Michigan Street, Plymouth, where visitation will be held one hour prior services. Pastor Maurice Grindle will officiate.
Burial will take place in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
