Irene M. Snook

July 29, 1916 - October 14, 2001

       Lifetime Plymouth resident, Irene M. Snook, 85, died at her residence, 11540 Lincolnway East, Plymouth, in the company of her family at 9:38 a.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2001. Irene had battled a cancer-related illness since 1996.
      
       Born in Plymouth, the daughter of George H. and Martha E. Littman Towle on July 29, 1916, she grew up in West Township and received her education at West High School.
      
       On January 4, 1936, in Culver, Ind., Irene and John V. Snook were married. John preceded her in death on June 15, 1995.
      
       For 19 years, until 1972, she and her husband were the owners and operators of the Plymouth Dairy Queen.
      
       Irene enjoyed flower gardening, shopping, visiting and working crossword puzzles. Her social life was primarily time spent with her family and her church.
      
       She was a member of the Central Church of Christ for many years.
      
       Irene is survived by two sons and a daughter. Her sons are Robert V. Snook, Lynnville, Tenn., and John E. Snook, Ft. Wayne. Her daughter is Janet L. and Ed Ousnamer, Tampa, Florida.
      
       Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, together with Ida Wagoner, a sister, and Pat and Bill Kyser, a sister and brother-in-law, all of Plymouth. Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
      
       Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and by Jake Snook, a great grandson. Two sisters, Dorothy Comford and Florence Anderson and three brothers, Howard, George, and Harold Towle, have also died.
      
       Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
      
       Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. Brother Byron Henbest, of Bowling Green, Ky., will officiate.
      
       Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.
      
       Preferred memorial gifts in Irene?s memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
