Family and friends are invited to a combined service celebrating the lives of Erica Christine Goeckel and Mildred L. Weidner Defoe in the chapel of the New Oakhill Cemetery, on Saturday November 26, 2005. A sharing of memories will be from 9 ? 10 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Charles Krieg of the Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen will officiate.
Erica, Mildred?s granddaughter, passed away at her parents home on the evening of April 18, 2005. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on February 17, 1986, the daughter of Donald C. Goeckel D.D.S. and Dianne C. Weidner D.D.S. and will be remembered for her cheerful personality and beautiful smile.
She is survived by her parents of Bay City, several aunts and uncles that include Plymouth residents Paul Dennis and Nickie Weidner. Her cousins locally include; Laura D. and Ed Marquardt, Craig N. and Amy Weidner, Lisa A. and Cody Rhoades all of Plymouth and Lance D. and Gretchen Weidner of Bloomington, Ind.
Mildred, 86, passed away on May 27, 2005 at home in the company of her immediate family. She was born on April 10, 1919 in Hammond, Indiana the daughter of Daniel B. and Viola C. (Talbot) Mann. She was a 1937 graduate of Plymouth High School. She was first married to Paul A. Weidner who passed away in 1962. She then married William M. Defoe on August 8, 1970, passed away in June of 2005.
An active women who enjoyed golfing, sailing, the winter gulf breezes of their Naples Florida home and cherished visits from her children, grand and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Paul Dennis and wife Nickie Weidner of Plymouth; daughter, Dr. Dianne C. Weidner and spouse Dr. Donald C. Goeckel of Bay City, Michigan and a step-daughter, Barbara J. and spouse Dr. Robert Myers of Marblehead, Mass. Nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to the donor?s choice.
