Maurene E. Moore

January 16, 1909 - July 9, 2005

       A love story that began over 81 years ago has ended. For now...
      
       Their faithfulness to each other and their enduring love through good and bad times brought them many wonderful years together here on earth.
      
       Their Christian love for each other will be forever sealed in the presence of the Almighty.
      
       Maurene E. Moore, the devoted wife of Lowell A. Moore for 71 years, has died. She was 96 years old on January 16, 2005. She died in the company of her family at 1:56 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Miller?s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
      
       Born the daughter of Leroy and Harriett Crowell Sanders on January 16, 1909, in Connersville, Ind., and attended school in Anderson, Indiana.
      
       She and Lowell met in a small church in Anderson, Indiana, when she was 17-years-old.
      
       ?I noticed a girl with large, dark brown eyes,? Lowell said, ?and I made sure that I became acquainted with the girl behind them.?
      
       Engaged in 1928, the couple delayed their marriage until March 29, 1934, while Lowell went through college. They were married in the church in Anderson, Ind.
      
       She took great pride in being a good homemaker, living in Plymouth since 1949, coming from Lafayette, Ind., Maurene enjoyed music; she played the piano by ear.
      
       She was a member of the Community Baptist Church of South Bend and the Christian Women?s Club. She sang in the choir of the church for many years and was active with the missionary group.
      
       Maurene is survived by her husband, Lowell, and by their children: R. Carol Skinner, Carmel, Ind.; Jeaneen Snyder, Plymouth; and Ronald and Mimi L. Moore, Portage, Ind.
      
       Five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
      
       She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wilmer Sanders, a half-brother: Verl Sanders, a half-sister: Vera Cridge and two stepsisters: Loma Milburn and Thelma Peterson.
      
       Friends will be welcomed by the family to celebrate the life of Maurene on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind. Calling will continue at the church one hour prior to services.
      
       Funeral services will take place in the Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2005.
      
       Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
      
       Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church, South Bend, Ind.
