Ethel V. Heckaman, 93, a lifetime area resident, died, following an illness, at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, in the Porter Hospital, Valparaiso Campus.
Born in Plymouth on February 28, 1911, Ethel was the daughter of Laotis ?Jim? and Clara Pfender Sisk. She attended Plymouth schools.
On January 7, 1930, Ethel and Jesse E. Heckaman were married in Plymouth at the home of Bev Appleman. Jesse died on October 4, 1997.
A telephone operator for a few years, Ethel became a homemaker for her husband and daughter.
She enjoyed doing crafts and flower gardening. She shared her beautiful bouquets of flowers with her family and friends.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Plymouth and was the last living charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Lodge, Plymouth.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Kathy Dawn Wszolek of Valparaiso and by three grandsons, all of Valparaiso. They are Christopher J., Michael K., and Robert K. Wszolek.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Helen Phillips and two brothers, Chet and Harold Sisk.
Visitation and a celebration of her life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2005, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Ethel, officiated by the Rev. Ted Lester, will follow visitation at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
