A memorial service for former Plymouth resident, Dorothy E. ?Bunny? Ball, 97, who died on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, in the Hospice of Dayton, will be held in the new Oakhill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth, Ind., at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.
Bunny was born in Plymouth on February 18, 1907, the daughter of Clinton and Florence BonDurant. She graduated from St. Mary?s College at Notre Dame and for seven years during the depression, taught first grade with 40 students in each class.
In 1937, Bunny and Gerald Ball were married. She became a devoted Notre Dame fan, her husband?s alma mater. She never missed a game on TV and made it known that she didn?t want to be bothered when she had a game on the set.
Gerald died in 1988 and Bunny moved to Dayton in 1992 to be near her niece?s family.
In Plymouth, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Tri Kappa sorority, the Plymouth Country Club and for years she and Gerald were dear friends and benefactors of Ancilla College and the Community of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
Bunny is survived by her two nieces: Pat and Jim Custer of Kettering, Ohio and Betty Peirce of California; two great-nieces, Deborah and Kenny Lakins and Cathy and Don Morter and a great-nephew, Doug Peirce. Also surviving are four great-great nieces, Jessie, Tessa, Jill and Cory and a nephew, James L. Peirce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Helen Keyser in 1990. Her nephew-in-law, Don Peirce has also died.
