Robert DeWitt

       Robert C. "Bear" DeWitt, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 26, 2020 at Valley View HealthCare Center, Elkhart, IN.
      
       He was born on May 18, 1952 to Delbert Clyde DeWitt and Marion Louise (Payne) DeWitt in Rochester, IN. Robert graduated from Plymouth High School in 1970.
      
       "Bear" was a very kind and caring person who loved his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for good food, traveling, a desire to be free, and to live life on his own terms. Robert was self-employed as a carpenter and was a perfectionist when it came to carpentry and drywall finishing, his specialty. "Bear" retired in 2008 due to declining health.
      
       Robert is survived by his sisters Diana Shively and Debra (John) Frame of Osceola; brother Richard DeWitt of Mishawaka; children Bobbie Jo, Leeann, Michael, Pamela, and Susan; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
      
       He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Mary Ann in 1997.
      
       A grave site service will take place on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth with Rev. Charles Krieg officiating.
