Mattie Mullins Gibson, 81 died of natural causes at 9:35 A.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2003 , at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth,, Indiana. She was a resident of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
Born in Salyersville, Kentucky on September 30, 1921, she was the daughter of Dewey and Famie Carpenter Mullins. Mattie was married to John Leonard Gibson, who died on November 8, 1987.
Mattie enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and gardening. She was an outdoor enthusiast, who enjoyed camping, and feeding and taking care of wild animals.
Mattie was a member of the Pilgrim Gospel Lighthouse Church, Plymouth, Indiana
Mrs. Gibson is survived by a son Dennis(Virginia) Gibson, South Bend, and by a daughter Thelma(Alton) Hochstetler, Argos, Indiana
Two grandsons and a granddaughter also survive: Douglas Gibson, Arkansas, Colton Gibson, South Bend, IN, and Angela Stanton, Rochester.
Three brothers and three sisters: Jess Mullins, Argos, Maxie Mullins, Kentucky, Seldon Rowe, Plymouth, Melovie Rudd, Knox, Alberta Fletcher, Knox, and Velva Lewis, Lucerne, Indiana survive as well.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother and a sister: Dexter Mullins, Helen Bitterling.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday June 16, 2003 at the Pilgrim Gospel Lighthouse Church, 7th St. and Beerenbrook, Plymouth, Indiana
Funeral services for Mattie will be held at the Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 16, 2003 immediately following visitation. The Rev. Erve Bradley, will officiate.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery.
