Ninety-year-old Louise Walz, an active and vibrant lady living in the Bremen Manor Retirement Apartments, 515 S. Whitlock, Bremen, died of natural causes at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in the Bremen Health Care Center.
Born in Genoa, Ohio, the daughter of Peter and Daisy Draper Gackstetter on Feb. 6, 1912, Louise graduated from East Tawas High School, East Tawas, Mich.
Married to Theron S. Walz in Bay City, Mich., Louise was a housewife and mother. In addition to those duties she was an operator for Bell Telephone in East Tawas and operated her own beauty shop in East Tawas and Bay City, Mich. She worked at one time as a secretary for Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., and in her retirement she drove a school bus for the Bay City Public Schools.
As if those activities weren?t enough, Louise was an avid golfer and former member and past president of the Sebring Florida Women?s Golf Association. She enjoyed sewing and creating hooked rugs.
Louise is survived by William Gackstetter, her brother of East Tawas, Mich., and a niece, Rose M. Shoemaker of Bremen, Ind. Numerous other nieces, nephews and friends will also be among those who miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Theron, who died in 1983, and their son, Gene Chris Walz.
Three brothers: Lewis, John and Rollie Gackstetter and two sisters, Marie Schuler and Luella Anderson have also died.
Louise?s burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. Arrangements are being made by the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Louise?s memory may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
