Former Plymouth resident, Kenji "Ken" Born, 57, residing at Lakeview East in Chicago for the past 30 years, passed away at his home unexpectedly due to health complications.
He was born the son of George A. and Sumiko Born in a simple hut in Okinawa, Japan on January 27, 1956 and named Kenji by his grandfather.
Kenji was raised in Plymouth and graduated with the PHS Class of 1974, there he played in the band. He then earned an accounting degree from Indiana State University. After moving to Chicago he became a vice-president at Cole Taylor Bank in Rosemont, Illinois.
Kenji loved everything about Chicago and proudly called it his home. He followed all Chicago sports, especially loved the Cubs and was thrilled to attend a game just two weeks ago. His favorite music group was Chicago. Kenji also enjoyed the NASCAR racing circuit and traveling before his health would not allow.
He was a believer in his Lord Jesus Christ and his family takes comfort in knowing that he now enjoys the company of his dear mother and father in His presence.
Surviving cousins include: Julie (Steven) Harness of Grovertown, John Guyse of Plymouth, Lori (Steven) Hollett of Plymouth and Stephen (Lisa) Guyse of Lakeville.
A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, August 24th at 11 a.m. in the New Oakhill Cemetery Chapel in Plymouth, Indiana. Pastor Pamela Pask of the United Methodist Church in Hamlet will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services in the chapel. Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery alongside his parents, George and Sumiko Born.
