Walter Woolley, 87, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died of natural causes in Walnut Creek Nursing Center, 309 Kingston Dr., Plymouth, at 9:15 a.m., on Thursday, June 20, 2002.
Walter, the son of Arthur T. and Lilly Truex Woolley, was born in Culver, Ind., on Sept. 19, 1914. He attended Plymouth schools.
On Nov. 2, 1941, in Niles, Mich., Walter and Dorothy M. Birk were married.
Walter was a machinist. He retired from Torrington Company in South Bend in 1969 after many years as a highly accomplished worker.
He enjoyed camping and was a former member of the Good Sam Camping Association. He loved gardening and was an avid wood worker. He was a former member also of the Plymouth Moose Lodge, #741.
Dorothy, Walter?s devoted wife of nearly 61 years, survives, together with their two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald E. and Carolyn Woolley and Terry L. and Mary Woolley and their daughter, Gloria and her husband Bill Espich, all of Plymouth.
Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and Ruth Woolley, his step-mother, survive as well.
Also surviving are four sisters and four brothers. The sisters are: Helen Swanson, Rochester , Ind. , Erma Weiger, Culver, Ind. , Alma Watkins and Deloris Rowlands, both of Lafayette , Ind.
His brothers are: Willard Woolley, Naples , Fla. , Donald Woolley, Tepe , Ariz. , and Delbert and Kenneth Woolley, both of California .
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Hazel Woolley and Thelma Thomas, a brother, Robert and a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Woolley.
Visitation with the family to celebrate the life of Walter Woolley will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2002 , in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth .
Funeral services in the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Charles Krieg, will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery , Plymouth .
