Lois Eileen Overland died Tuesday December 22, 2009 in Catherine Kasper Life Center at 1:00 PM.
Lois was born November 15, 1926 the daughter of Frank and Josephine Stuwar Walge in Hammond, IN.
She graduated from Hammond Tech with the class of 1945.
1949 in Hammond she took Robert S. Overland as her husband, he preceded her in death in 1988.
Lois? first priority was being a homemaker; she also volunteered at St. Catherine?s in East Chicago for 12 years.
Lois was a member of Our Lady Perpetual Help Church in Hammond, the St. Catherine Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and her family.
She is survived a son Brother Bob Overland, FS of Donaldson, IN; a daughter Patti Jo & Martin Freels of St. John, IN; a brother-in-law Kenneth Overland of Beaumont, CA, special niece Pat Newcomb; several nieces and nephews survive as well. Also surviving are lifelong friends Pat & Bill Gay; Sr. Teresa Schleper, P.H.J.C.; Madonna Leasure; and Pat & Bob Honig.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, December 22, 2009, in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. EST in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. The Reverend Father Edward Konerman, S.J., will officiate.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday December 26, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m CST. in the Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave Hammond, IN 46323. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m.
A private burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.
