Mr. Delbert James Carlisle, age 87, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2209, at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
Delbert was born January 14, 1922, in Plymouth, Indiana, the son of the late Mr. Charles Albert Carlisle and the late Mrs. Essie Catherine Blanchard Carlisle.
He married Wilma Jean Wright on May 9, 1948, in Plymouth.
He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter?s Union. He was also a State Farm Agent.
Delbert was an avid reader and loved music. He often enjoyed sharing his musical talent with other by singing in a quartet. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lithia Springs, GA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mrs. Wilma Jean Wright Carlisle of Lithia Springs, GA; a daughter, Judy and James McLeroy of Tyrone, GA; two sons, Lane and Kathleen Carlisle of Conyers, GA; and Wane and Melanie Carlisle of Lithia Springs, GA; a daughter-in-law Susan Welden Carlisle of Kennesaw, GA; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dr. Ronald Lynn Carlisle, a sister Ruby M. Marsh, and a brother Darrell B. Carlisle.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., June 17th 2009, in the New Oakhill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Delbert's nephew Tom Lee will officiate.
