Helen Marie Haines

November 1, 1926 - September 19, 2007

       Helen Marie Haines, 80, 141 Elliott Ave., Plymouth, an area resident all of her life, excepting for periods in Louisville, Kentucky, and South Bend, died of natural causes at 2:20 p.m. in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, on Wednesday, September 19, 2007.
      
       Born in Plymouth on November 1, 1926, Helen was the daughter of Harry F. and Cecilia B. (Hartman) Brundige.
      
       She attended LaPaz Schools and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1945.
      
       On August 17, 1946, in Plymouth, Helen and Thomas M. Haines were married. Thomas died on May 7, 1991.
      
       For the better part of Helen?s working career, she enjoyed serving the community as a grocery clerk. She worked at the Lake Avenue Food Market, Dave?s Supermarket and Glaubs? G&G.
      
       She also worked in the Norwesco plant for a brief period of time.
      
       Helen loved flowers and enjoyed working out of doors, especially gardening which she learned by running the greenhouse at the family?s Brundige A1 Gardens on the Plymouth-Goshen Road.
      
       Helen is survived by a son, Thomas W. Haines and his fiance, Georgia Schneider. A sister-in-law, Darlene Brundige, a niece, Connie (Cecil) Ottow, all of Plymouth and a nephew, Harold (Sarah) Davidson, Elkhart, and their families, survive as well.
      
       She is preceded in death by her spouse, two sisters, Ilene Davidson and Juanita Ivins, and a brother, Forrest V. Brundige.
      
       Friends are invited to celebrate Helen?s life with her family on Friday, September 21, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
      
       The Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Helen at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007, in St. Michael?s Roman Catholic Church, 613 N. Center St., Plymouth, where Helen was a member. The Rev. Father William Kummer will officiate.
      
       Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
      
       Memorial gifts in Helen?s memory may be made to St. Michael?s Parish.
