I was shocked to hear of Pete's passing. He gave me my start in the legal business and I am forever grateful. He was so much fun to work with. What I will remember most are his stories and his "Old Spice" song he would sing to my girls when they were babies.

He loved you all.

Barb & Family: I had the pleasure of working with and for Pete for a number of years, always loved his stories, his jokes, and his teasing about my being from Tyner. He was so proud of his family and loved you all so much. It's been so quiet around the courthouse without his presence and he'll definitely be missed. I'm so thankful for being able to spend time with him, he was one in a million. RIP Pete until we meet again

In our occupation the issues provoke tensions and disagreeable natures But not with Pete. His collegiality and good humor promoted settlement. He will be missed by the bar.

Pete was such a delight to talk with. His recall, history knowledge, and recall of special happenings was a joy! History was such an avocation that he loved to share.

He loved those children !

He loved his community, his country, and the opportunity to serve his country and quietly, he loved his faith of mankind and his church.

Friends were a part of his life and he treasured them and the close association .

Remember his twinkling eyes, the smile and the great memories that he has left for all.

Pete, was the first candidate that I ever went door to door for while I was in high school. When I returned home from college I worked at the Marshall County Bank and would regularly drop abstracts at Pete’s office for legal opinions. While standing in his office door Pete would expound on the political issues of the time both nationally and locally. He was a wealth of knowledge. He always seemed to be on the run and full of energy. He was a champion of the average guy! It was an honor to know Pete!

Dear Barb and Family,
So sorry for your loss. Pete was one of my favorite Democrats. He was so interesting to talk with about any issue. Whenever I needed help with a Democratic function, Pete was always willing to help. He left a great void, and I will miss him very much. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.

Barb and Families and Dave, my folks lived across the (Rex) street from Dave, Pete and their Mom. I remember Pete coming over for suppers. He was always happy and seem to be in a hurry and that great smile. Such a good guy. He was the only one in Plymouth to ever call me Susie. I will always remember him.

Barb & Family.
Pete and I went through all 12 grades of school together at the old Washington School and at Lincoln High School. We played football together, and Pete was an out standing running half back.
I am but one of many who will miss Pete very very much.
Pete helped me set up my business many years ago. And just knowing that Pete was always there to help, gave me peace of mind.
My thoughts are with you, Barb.

Dear Barb and family,

I am so sorry to read about Pete's death. He was a wondeful friend to Tom and I, for years and years. He always treated me, and my entire]re staff in the clerk's office, with such respect and good humor...always knew when Pete came into the office, someone was laughing. The last time I saw Pete he was riding his bike through Oakhill cemetery and I was tending Tom's grave. He stopped and chatted with me for a long time. He said he frequently rode there to say hello to his friends, now he has joined them.

He was a true character and a fine man. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and heart.

Dear Barb and family,

I'm so sad to hear of Pete's passing. Part of my happiest memories of Plymouth are popping in on Pete, usually late at night, while in HS, college and beyond and having spontaneous conversations with him and Barb about all aspects of life. I admired him greatly for his kindness, wit, intelligence and moral compass. I feel so lucky to have "popped" in on him this summer while visiting from abroad. He was amazing, as usual, sitting on his screen-in porch holding my attention and creating more laughs for Pete, Barb and I. That evening was a highlight of the summer for me. He was one of my father figures in life, such a wise man. Rest in peace, my friend!

To the Rockaway family,
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Pete. It is always difficult to lose a loved one, regardless of the circumstances. I remember with fondess summer evenings participating with and against Pete in the summer adult team tennis program during mid-70's. Pete would always help make young players feel important by wanting to hit with them. He would love to talk to people and put them at ease.
As you go through this difficult time, I know the love and support from family and friends, along with many fond memories will help provide comfort to your family. Tears are the price we must pay for loving someone. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Pete as a friend, a teammate, an attorney, and a judge. I enjoyed his company and was very glad we had a last chance to get together.

I always enjoyed working with Atty. Rockaway when I was welfare director because he was always fair. Whenever I had questions, he would answer them without talking down to me or clients. Plymouth will miss him.

Barb.
I was hoping to come to the funeral, but icy sidewalks have changed my mind. I am sorry. Pete was such a great guy! I cannot even think of him without smiling. He always had a little quip and friendly word for everyone. What a wonderful legacy to leave in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Dick and I went to Greenwich Village long, long ago to see Dave and Alma while vacationing in New York City. I do not know if they would remember me, but I was looking forward to seeing them again after all of these years.

Blessings and peace to you and your family.

Dear Barb and family:
Pete was my life long friend. As children in St. Thomas and all through school together. He was like a brother that I could turn to when life's problems got too overwhelming. He was always there with a joke or story about our early lives together. His passing has left a giant hole in the hearts of so many of his dear friends along with his family. Peace be with you my dear friend.
