James E. Brown Condolences |
March 7, 2017 at 8:18 pm
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Brownie. So many of my fond childhood memories are of Dee and Brownie playing cards with my parents, being at their house and my parents house. He always made me feel like I was someone special. I will miss his easy laugh and kind smile. You have my deepest sympathy. |

Dee and Family,
I am saddened by your loss. I first came in contact with "Coach Brown" when he was an assistant Rockies football assistant during his first year at PHS, and my senior year with the Class of 1962.
He was an excellent teacher and coach. Jim was just a great guy, fun to be around, and so full of life.
May our Lord comfort and bless you.

As a teacher, Jim was of real help in helping my brother Dick straighten out his academic and behavioral issues in school. As Dick told it, Jim got him on the road that led to Ball State. All of us Milners were grateful for that.
I was probably in the same room with Jim twenty times or less. Marilyn spent even less time with him. We both remember him as having a nice smile, being great storyteller, and a good listener.
Dee (Maridee to me all the way through sixth grade) and I went all the back. We shared a lifetime love for Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Greenlee together, the fifth grade fire escape, and a second grade trip – by train – to Warsaw. We both grew up on the south side of town and were in the same class all the way through Webster School and far beyond.
At the Class of 1960 reunions we made it back to, comparing notes with Jim and Dee was an important thing to do. They knew the answers to our questions about Plymouth and the Class of 1960.
Our sympathy goes to Dee, especially, and all the Girtens we knew, and the extended family we never got to meet.

Jim and I were classmates at the old Williamsport High School, home of the Bingy Bombers. We road school busses together, played sports together, double-dated with our high school sweethearts, sang in the school choir, worked on the school farm -- I think you could say we loved life! After graduation we, as well as most of our classmates (there were 33 of us) went our separate ways, but tried to get back to the school reunions every year. Jim reminded me at our 60th reunion that I was the one to get him to forget about using a pillow for sleeping (why put your neck cranked forward when sleeping on your back as you don't do that when you are standing). Gee, I was glad to hear that! Sometimes people do listen to good, sound advice. "Jim, one day I will be joining you as we stand before our Creator. For both of us it will be a blessing to hear Him say to us, 'Men, don't worry, I am Mercy Personified!'" |

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF JIM'S PASSING. IT IS SO SAD THAT AS FAMILY WE HAVE ALL PULLED APART AND GONE SO MANY DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. I KNOW HE HAS GONE ON TO A GREATER PLACE AND HAS BEEN REUNITED WITH MANY OTHER WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHOM HAVE PASSED IN THE YEARS GONE BY. DEE AND ALL THE FAMILY PLEASE ACCEPT MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES FOR. MY HEARTFELT PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU ALL. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY YOU AND ALL THAT KNEW HIM. REST IN PEACE JIM. |
