Although it's been a long time since I saw Jim, I loved hearing about his commitment to God and living the Christ-like life. This didn't surprise me because that's the way he was when I knew him, a good compassionate man. My thoughts and prayers for you all in your time of grief.

My deepest sympathy to Janice, my dear cousin, and her family. I remember so well standing up at Jim and Jamice's wedding. It was a lovely Christmas wedding, and as a teenager, I thought I looked beautiful in the red velvet bridesmaid dresses Janice had chosen. I was also close to the Vander Velde family since Jim's sister, Ruth and I attended Timothy Christian High School together, then went on to nursing school. To our surprise, Ruth and I wound up at the same school, Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and we roomed together there with other girls. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We'll miss his good Christian example as well as his quick smile and hearty laugh. We're sorry we couldn't be with you today, but know that we're praying for God's comfort at this time.
