Dear Barb, PJ and Jill...

Our hearts are very heavy right now. What a blessing you guys have been to us and to so many others! We know that Phil is with his wonderful Savior and friend; but for us, he and that wonderful vibrant personality of his will be missed. We can still picture him pulling candy out of his pocket...he always brighten up a room everywhere he went! His smile will be forever remembered.

Ed will be in Indy for medical stuff Tuesday and Wednesday but you will be continually in our prayers as you celebrate Phil's wonderful life that he so graciously lived out in our community.

May God's peace and grace sustain you as you go through this process. You are dearly loved.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Mr Gretter made a very big impact on both of my girls while they were at LaVille Elementary. He was a gift to that school and he will be greatly missed. My girls are now a freshman at UIndy and a freshman at Marian high school. They still talk about how they hated moving on to the 4th grade because it meant he didn't get to read to them anymore. But he still give them mints in the hallways. :)

First and Foremost to the Holm and Gretter families: May God give you peace and comfort as you grieve the loss of Philip. I remember him walking through Lifeplex on my shift giving me mints. Our little talks about home buying and what steps I need to take in order to prepare myself in purchasing my first house was eye opening and I thank you for the wonderful information Philip. He was a very sweet man and I will not forget him. You will be truly missed from many.

So Sorry for Your loss, Phil and I were best friends in school. Sure doesn't seem that long ago, I am so glad to have been his friend. So many friends I should have kept in contact with, even retired there doesn't seem to be enough time each day.
I "Worked" with Phil in his Dad's grocery store, on our lunch break we would grab our shotguns and run down to the lake. Hoping to see ducks to blast away at, 99% % of the time, nothing, but sure had fun.

Barb. I am so in shock when I read this. Phil was just at Pete's funeral last July and then at my Moms house to sell it so she could move here with me. I know what you are going to be going threw and if you ever want to talk or want to cry we can do that together just let me know. I cry a lot still from losing Pete just 7 months ago. He was supposed to sell my house the end of this year, hope he can sell it from Heaven.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to the entire Gretter family. Mr. Gretter ( I never heard anyone call him by his first name, it was always Mr. Gretter by students and staff) was a blessing to have around LaVille Elementary. Even though he never serviced 4 - 6 Mr. Gretter was one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Always had a hand shake for me. Yes, it was a guarantee that a mint was going to be in your hand if you passed him the hall. Mr. Gretter will be misssed by all.

Barb, Gary, Carmen and families,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Phil's passing. I just got back from visiting our son, Nathan, in Florida and so was unable to get to the visitation and/or services.

As you know, I remember Phil from the days when he was 5 ft. 2 in. tall through adulthood. Many fun, wonderful memories! As so many have mentioned, his smile always made you feel that he was genuinely glad to see you. I recently sent him a picture of him with Gary Dilllon and Lance Overmyer during his jr year of h.s. So glad I did that.

I am hopeful that the memories he has left with you will help all of you travel through this very difficult time.

Barb, Jill, PJ, Byron and Mary and family,

We were stunned to hear of Phil's passing. What a warrior for the Kingdom of God He was! His huge smile and kind manner to all made him a blessing to everyone who crossed his path. We especially have a great memories of PJ and Garrett's growing up years and the times our families got to spend together. It was Phil who led Garrett to the Lord at one of Plymouth Wesleyan's VBS programs! We praise God for his life and for the example of Christ that he was.

We will continue to pray for all of you in this deep loss and we will do all we can to continue the legacy Phil left. He left such a shining legacy of loving people to Jesus.

Our Love and Prayers,
