Tom was a hero to many, especially to my family. As a news reporter, I worked with him and he was always funny, professional, and caring. As parents, we bonded over the fact that we both have daughters with Down syndrome. He and Lea Ann were one of the first parents I spoke with, and sought advice from, when my daughter was born. As a police officer, my husband admired and respected Tom with all his soul. It was Tom's department that investigated, and solved, the death of my husband's first wife. We owe him so much gratitude and respect. Lea Ann, Rachel, Meredith and "Tommy," you have our over-flowing love and sympathy.

Larry and I want to tell Tom's family, and extended family that Tom is finally at peace. We also want to thank him for his service to the City of Plymouth and Marshall County. He was one of the very special officers that served. His service was also his families service, sometimes we forget that, but in this case it was very true. They are with their families every time they leave their homes.

Please know that Tom's presence in Marshall County Law Enforcement and Marshall County as a whole will be realized for many years to come. Thanks to you as the supportive family you have been to Tom in all of his endeavors knowing the stresses and pressures that are placed on police officers and especially their families. I have been away from Plynouth for 15 years and still think of it as home. Tom was a good man. I met him as the local police offer and he always treated me with a great deal of respect. I can never forget how kind Tom was to me the night that my wife died; October 26, 2006. Tom came to my home and knew exactly what to say to me. Tom told me to call him anytime that I felt the need. This community has truly lost one of it's finest.
