Matt left a mark on this earth, and therefore his legacy. But he would never take credit for such a thing, owing it all to God. And his is why I love him. Matthew was a man of humility, integrity, intelligence, and bluntness, however his heart surpassed all of the former.

Matt made me want to be a better man. He encouraged me to seek out and question my faith, being guided by the Holy Spirit. Matt stood by me, quite literally, in some of the lowest points of my life. And he still loved and encouraged me.

One day, because of the blood of Jesus Christ, I will be overjoyed to see Matthew again. Until then, I lift up my prayers, sympathies, and condolences to his wife, daughter, and family. May the Holy Spirit bring you comfort and peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with Matthew's family during this heartbreaking time.
Matt and I went to school together in Wellsville and his Mom was our English teacher...
Matt was always a very special person with an amazing smile and sense of humor.
God Bless

We express our sympathy on Matt's passing as we remember the service he and Barb gave to the Flora community. May he rest in peace and may Barb and his daughter be blessed.

Deepest sympathy and prayers for all. Pastor Mat was a very holy and special man. He listened and always offered wonderful support and God's love to all. He shared himself with residents at Catherine Kasper Life Center in worship and individual prayer. Pastor Matt was just wonderful to colaberate with for ministry. He truly was called to serve people with God's message of love in many ways.

Sincerely,
Margie Pixey

Matt was a joy to have for our time together as a part of the Plymouth Speech and Debate Team. His incredible sense of humor kept our staff meetings light, even at the most stressful time of the season when we had to make tough decisions about students who were or were not going to be a part of our post-season teams. His immense knowledge of so many subjects and his incredible ability to think "outside of the box" made him a real asset for our team. He formed an immediate connection with the students on our team who lovingly called him "The Rev." Shortly after he was no longer able to attend our practices due to his illness, the students created "The Rev" award which was given to team members who best reflected his love of life and his love for others who shared his intellectual pursuit of excellence. The best part of the award for the students? A bag of Fritos - a common attachment to Matt's hand at practices! Best wishes to all of his family and friends. May there be a special peace for all of you. The Rev will continue to be missed by all he touched at PHS.
