Cousin Ron was an inspiration to us in so many ways. While growing up in Berne, Indiana, Ron was one of our big city cousins we loved to visit. We were in awe as he developed his championship skills in the game of table tennis and we all aspired, without success, to win even one point against our famous cousin Ron. Later as he became a minister and pastor, we were inspired by his quiet devotion and compassion to those he served and to everyone he met. We are still influenced by his devotion and his humility. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Anna and his family. May our beloved cousin rest in peace.

To Ann and family. What a great and faithful presence Ron has been in church and community. His unobtrusive support during the time I spent in Plymouth, along with yours, is deeply appreciated. Now we pray for you, your family, and all those who have come to love him and respect his ministry in all its manifestations, the awareness of God's rich grace, comfort and peace. Shalom. To Ron's Family:
You are a blessed family to have such a man as Ron. I write you as part of Fredora LLC (the Fred and Dora Neidlinger Family Trust). My father Orland (96) worked alongside Ron and witnessed first hand the gifts and spirit of Ron. We all loved his humility and investment in our family. He left a lasting legacy.
His life was one very well lived!!

So loved Pastor Ron. I had never been baptized, so after my kids were born he baptized us all.
He was such an inspiration to us all and so wonderful with my kids.
Glad he is home and no longer in pain.

"WE ARE THANKFUL TO RON?S FAMILY FOR SHARING HIS LIFE WITH US"....no better way to put it !
I have seen Dr. Liechty at the Plymouth Farmers Market on more Saturday's than not, and it was obvious he loved the people of Plymouth and Marshall County.....he was always stopping to talk to someone as he made his way around !
I never had any idea he was of the "Liechty Hatchery" family...me being born and bred in South Bend that sign was a landmark to me as I grew up !
Plymouth and Marshall County are having a rough year with losses this year, but Dr. Liechty went above and beyond....it is quite obvious, that he is going to be missed by MANY people in the area for ALL he has done !

I want to take the time to thank Rev. Ron Liechty. One of the community notes a lot of people do not know about him is, he supported Alcoholics Anonymous in the Plymouth Community. 21 years ago I was lost and was lead to the tables of A.A. in the basement at First United Church of Christ. I still attend those meetings in that little basement room that Rev. Liechty allowed us to use. Attending AA meetings in that room, gave me my life back and I truly wish I'd have made my gratitude known to him.
In order to help suffering alcoholics, they have to have some place to go. Most times we are lucky enough to have someone like Rev. Liechty allow us to meet in his church's basement. Something we don't take for granted. We who meet there are in debt to his legacy. Rev. Liechty gave us our home at 321 N Center Street and I want to say God Bless him, God Bless him.

May God bless the family and all who knew this great and loving man. He will be missed but his legacy will live on.

Dear Anna and Family,
We first met you and Pastor Ron through your ministry at First Presbyterian Church, Rochester, IN and the IMPACT Group that Ron help spearhead. Ron was an amazing man in his service here in this community; and, now that I read his obituary I marvel that he was also a very humble man as he persevered in the work/service of Jesus Christ and the global community/a remarkable person. I will always remember the joy and peace that I experienced hearing him talk about the need for reconciliation/justice among pastors in the Church. I never fully expressed my gratitude to him (as a pastor's wife/family for such show of sensitivity; I hope it suffice that I tell you and that God knows how often you've been in our prayers since the beginning days of his illness.
May you be blessed by memories with Ron and be comforted by the Holy Spirit.
Love and peace,

I feel so blessed to have know Pastor Ron. When I started dating my husband, I began attending the First United Church of Christ. I had never felt so welcome at a church before. Pastor Ron was there during so many important times of my life. He conducted the marriage service when Paul and I were married, he was there to comfort us and conduct the funeral service for my dad, he baptized our son, and when I was gravely ill, he was there to see me at the hospital - even when I didn't know he was there. There was such a calming that came from him in trying times - and he shared in the excitement of happy times. My mom was a resident at Miller's Merry Manor and when I would go each morning to sit with her at breakfast, I would meet Pastor Ron in the hall. I would say good morning, and he would nod and smile. Even when he was unable to vocally acknowledge me, it was such a comfort. I will forever be indebted to him. God bless you Pastor Ron.

It is 3:30 and the front desk attendant sees the burgundy car pull into the parking lot, she announces over the intercom "attention Club kids Rev. Liechty the ping pong man is here." Several members come rushing to the table to be the first in line to play with Ron before he even gets a chance to walk through the doors. As he walks in and sits down his black bag he smiles that infectious smile and say "let's begin."
Our members were blessed to have such a wonderful person care and educate them. He will be missed.
