Doc,
You are missed so much already, I will miss our morning coffee and breakfast talks at 6:45 every morning. I wish you could yell at me for being your only employee that ever came to work to early one more time. I will miss our talks of the future, family, "men" , kids, dogs and the list goes on. Your words of wisdom will never be forgotten, neither will the verbal butt kickings you had given me. I will never forget you my friend, I hope my future endeavors will make you proud.

With much love and the "Bottorff Salute ",
Your friend Mindy

My heart breaks for the loved ones of Dr. Bottorff. She was my Chiropractor as a young girl, and I always admired the way she easily interacted with clients and got to know them on a personal level. She was kind and good and someone I wanted to be like as I grew older. I job shadowed her in high school and although I did not follow the same career path, I learned so much from the experience shared with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Janelle, you are missed by many, and loved by all of us.

My heart has been very heavy since learning of this tragic accident Saturday morning. It's still like a dream to me and I can still hear Dr. Janelle's voice from all the visits in her office. I've been seeing her since 1992 when she first started practicing with her father. She has helped me so much the past 23 years and I know I will never find another like her. I'm still in shock after hearing this news! My heart breaks for the family and her friends/clients. I'm pretty sure most of her clients were also friends. Janelle would always enter the room and say "Chrisssssssss, what's new?" with a tender pat on the shoulder. We'd talk about my grandkids, family, etc. She always had some sarcastic words as we visited. She knows how I love sarcasm! I'll miss that. I'll miss the tender pats on the shoulder, the friendly banter and that smile. RIP, my Friend! You will be sorely missed!!

I was shocked to hear of Dr Bottorff's accident and am sorry for her family as well as the community as a whole. She was a great chiropractor and loved what she did! I am in chiropractic school now, in part because she helped me realize just how awesome and powerful our nervous systems are. When I graduate and come back to Indiana to practice I hope to be as good a Doctor as she was!

Her father practices to this day is 93 years old!!! She got her passion for chiropractic from her dad and I wish the best for Bottorff Chiropractic and the entire extended family (patients, staff, and her immediate family) the best of luck during this tough time.

Dr. Janelle:
How do I even begin to put into words how much I appreciate everything you have done for me over the past 20 years. It is very rare to work for an employer who thinks of you as part of the family. I will miss our time we spent together both in and out of the office, the "look"that I would occasionally get (I'm sure some of you got that same look) when we fell short of her expectations, and just a simple smile we would exchange with each other passing in the hallway. She truly loved her patients and was so pleased when they started feeling better after just a few adjustments. We never got the chance to say goodby but I know, Dr. Janelle, that you will be looking down on us from heaven with a smile on your face.
My husband and I will miss our fantastic chiropractor and a very good friend. Rest in peace knowing how much you were loved and respected by your patients, your staff, and your family.

I was very sad to read of your loss. Losing a family member is in such a tragic way is very difficult for everyone. Though I only knew of Janelle through Beth's stories during high school, it was still obvious that she was loved by so many people and her loving family. I pray that the support of your family and friends will help you through these difficult times. May God embrace Janelle in his arms and welcome her into the eternal kingdom. Tears are the price we pay for loving someone. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am heartbroken at the loss of such a talented, skilled healer with such a tender and generous heart. I have seen Dr. J for almost ten years as a patient. As a pianist and organist/music teacher- she gave me back my life in 2006, when I could barely sit or stand without excruciating pain. She treated my physical and emotional self and put me on the road to recovery with her skills and her belief that I could get better. I came to her discouraged and depressed from being told by another more "modern" chiropractor- that my spine was disintegrating and that there was no more "jelly in the doughnuts" between my lower vertebrae. Dr. J dismissed that hopeless thought and got right to work and constantly encouraged me to exercise, to lessen the stress in my life, to sleep and sit on firm surfaces, to keep a positive attitude. I not only teach and perform music today, I have also walked 5 half marathons. I attribute so much of my recovery to her skilled treatment and consistent encouragement. When I have given recitals or been a part of musical performances and there is an area in the program for thank yous, I have listed her name. We may have had different interests and ideologies, but we shared the love and gratitude for the miraculous power of healing and recovery that the Divine built into our bodies. Rest in Peace, Dr. J and thank you for your humour, your wisdom and your talents. Gone too soon.

Dr. Janelle was a huge blessing to me in my time of despair with my rheumatoid arthritis. Doctors were just trying to push meds on me and I did not want any part of it at this age. She did not want that poison in me either! She taught me how to read by body and what would cause my flare ups, and she always had the healing touch to make the throbbing pain go away. I had never left a doctor?s appointment understanding what was going on with me or how it can be taken care of. But with Dr. Janelle, I left with so much knowledge about myself that I never knew, and that was just the first day I saw her! It only got better as time went on. She always had a huge smile and a glowing personality at any time of the day. Even at 7:20 in the morning when I was barely awake, and it seemed like she was bouncing off the walls with the joy of the day. You could talk to her about anything and she made you feel like her only point of interest that day. I always left with a smile on my face and eager for the next week?s appointment. Hearing of her passing tore my heart in two, since we had just talked about her trip earlier that week. I can?t imagine the pain Ron, Dr. John, her siblings and family are feeling, because I have yet to deal with it. And I am just a client of hers. She had a personality that anyone and everyone loved; opinionated, blunt and honest but a genuine person who treated everyone as equal as herself. We all know she is with her Maker in Heaven, but days will still make us wonder why so young. My prayers for healing are with you all. You lost an amazing woman in your family.

Janelle's family, I cannot think of words that can console you at this time of your loss. Just know that many, many people have you in their prayers. I have this vision of Janelle as a child at the Gun Club and as the Pilgrim on the gym floor.

We are so shocked and saddened to hear today of the loss of this wonderful Dr and friend. You always knew when you went in for a treatment she wasn't just concerned about your health she always would ask about the family and how everyone was. Its amazing when you think about how many patients she treated she could also remembered different 4-H projects our kids were in years ago. I am sure she will be missed by so many patients because of her kindness, but especially her staff and father who worked so closely with her. May you rest in peace our friend.

Sincerely, Doug and Paulette Sinn and Family

When we heard that God had called Dr. Janelle home, sadness overcame us. It was such a loss, so sudden, so unexpected, that it totally took our breath away.

To Ron and the Bottorff family, it is with our deepest sympathy to you, that we write to let you know just what Dr. Janelle meant to us. Mike and I both were patients of Dr. Janelle and she was the only doctor I trusted to adjust my neck! God bless her, she would always put me at ease and make me feel so comfortable. Mike being a bigger fellow, I often wondered how she could do what she did with his back, but she was a strong, talented and gifted woman. Not just in her practice, but in all aspects of her life.

I enjoyed working with Dr. Janelle when I worked at the CPA firm of Bieghler, Haenes, Lappin & Co. She was always a consummate business woman and I always love to see her and talk to her. She was so sweet and caring. Again, please except our condolences. I hope to see her again some day.

It is with a heavy heart that I say to the family of Janelle I'm so sorry for the loss of your loved one. May God ease your pain and give you strength. I have known Janelle for many years and l am proud to call her my friend. She was the most honest and straightforward person I've known. She always had a smile for everyone she met. She will truly be missed not only by her family but her many friends. Only God knows why he called his Angle home at this time, but we shall all be together again in the house of our Lord.

We were so sad to hear of Dr. Janelle's passing. We had just been in the office the day before, and she was so excited about going to Alabama to the dog show. As patients of hers for at last 20 years she was a wonderful healthcare giver, but more than that, she was a trusted friend! Our sympathy goes out to Ron, Dr. Bottorff and all those who loved her so much. May all the flower starts we shared with her the last couple of years be a reminder of the beautiful person we loved and admired!!
