Dear Susanna and girls:
It was my pleasure to know Loren for so many years. He was one of my first cardiac rehab patients at the Holm Clinic in the late 1990's. His sense of humor made his sessions so much more fun for all of us. He never hesitated to greet me with a smile and a hug and always thanked me for helping him recover. I am so sorry for your loss. You will all be in my prayers.

Sincerely, Debbie Turner

Dear Sue and Girls,
Loren was a special man with whom it was my pleaure to work for 20 years, both as a faculty colleague and his basketball assistant. His kind, gentle spirit was evident in all that he did and I learned so much from him about how to be a better person. I often would see Loren in the Fitness Center and he alwsys would come by to say hello and chat. I will have the fondest memories of him and trulywill miss him. I extend my deepest sympathy to all of you and pray that our Lord will bring you peace and comfort in this difficult time.

So sorry for you families loss. He was a wonderful man and father. I had just met Loren this past year and he was very kind to me and I felt like I had known him for a lifetime. We will miss his sweet ornery face on campus.

So many memories with Uncle. I can picture him turning the crank making ice-cream, coaching basketball at Kewana and CMA, night fishing at Cook Lake with dad, Greg and I, officiating volleyball games with Greg and or Karen when Ali played, umpiring behind the plate when I was a catcher, sitting near enough to thump me at Walnut when the cousins and I started snickering, but always full of love, support, and care. He will be missed, but he is having a sweet reunion with Greg, grandpa and grandma C and B along with his brothers, sister, and brother-in-laws.

Much Love,
Mike and Sandy Burroughs

While he called way too many fouls and strikes on me, he was all about the "kids"! He will be sadly missed. What a great man. What has also went straight to my heart was I recently found out that he was the very first 4H King in Marshall County. Once a King always a King. We will all miss you Loren!

My prayers and thoughts go out to your family in this time of mourning.
I first met Loren about 28 years ago and have worked with him doing volleyball
many times. He was a good man and a good official.
Sincerely

Having taught with Loren, I learned to appreciate his fair and gentle treatment of issues and individuals. He set a great example for all those he worked with and taught. He was one of the nicest people I ever met. He gave back a lot to his community. My thoughts are with the family.

I am so sorry about your Dad/husband. I am sorry I missed the viewing. Just heard last night . I am sure he is at peace now. I have many fond memories of him. Some funny, of course. Use to tease me like crazy. Always loved how he kept an eye on my Dad's home. Even after my daughter and family moved in. Hold on to your memories, they will give you so much comfort.

I had Mr. Carswell for biology my sophomore year. at CMA.

I just loved the subject and how he taught it and started toying with the idea of going into science instead of law.

Between Loren Carswell and Fred Lane my path was set - and I became a chemist.
He changed my life.

I had the extreme good fortune to play 3 years of basketball for Coach Carswell at Culver, 1977-79. His character and sense of humor were an inspiration to me. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I had Mr. C. as a teacher at Kewanna and also officiated with him after I graduated from college. He was one of my favorite teachers and was a great person and mentor as a student and friend. My deepest condolence to the Carswell family. One of the greatest compliment that a teacher can receive is that you made a difference in the life of a student. I can really say that Loren made a difference in my life and one of the reasons that I went into the field of education. He made this world a better place in the years he was on this earth. He was a special person to a whole of his students. He will be missed.

I am truly sad today as I just found out that my favorite teacher passed away. I was a student at CGA from 1980-84. Mr. Carswell was my biology teacher and referee for many of my volleyball and basketball games. I will never forget him secretly "helping" me on a biology test.
The warm eyes, kind smile, and great ability to tease will never be forgotten. He positively impacted my life as a young teen and I can see by reading these condolences that I am not alone.
I hope that gives his family comfort.

With Sympathy,
Diane Teibel
