During the years I spent with Bette, she never failed to give words of encouragement, concern, love or fun. We had great moments of exploring our past in Plymouth history, singing to the great Big Band tunes, and thoughts of how the world was so wonderful and not. I'm thrilled she is now gone on to enjoy a new experience without the encumbrances. My thoughts to you all.

The world is not the same and is somewhat diminished without Aunt Bette. She was a wonderful aunt and godmother to me. I have wonderful memories of all the visits to Sterling and Plymouth as well as the times in Los Angeles with her and Uncle Kay. In these last years when I would speak with her she was always so joyful. She told me she was waiting to go home to be with her Lord. My prayers are with her, Uncle Kay and my cousins.

To all The Buchanan Children and families,

What a wonderful lady Mrs. Buchanan was! She always had kind words for everyone she was around, no matter if it was children in her classroom , or her colleagues. I will never forget the days of your mother/grandmother at St. Michael School! I will also never forget how she took care of your dad/grandpa while still teaching. She is a remarkable lady, who I will always treasure.

To the family:
I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Your mom and dad were our first neighbors when our family moved in next door on LaPorte St. in Plymouth, helping us get familiar with the town. I am sure that she loved her large family and the many blessings that she was given. As you look back on her time, the laughs and tears will all come at the same time. Please know that during this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mrs Buchanan was my first grade teacher at St Mikes. Of all the teachers I have had she had the most impact on me. She took time with me when no one else seemed willing and I know my parents appreciated that. That year in first grade was some of the best in my childhood. The dedication she showed to her students was second to none especially since at the time she was going through one of the toughest times in her life with the death of her first husband. But she still was profesional and did her job well.

I too was blessed to have Mrs Buchanan as my first grade teacher. I still can remember how wonderful her hugs felt and how special she made us feel. She was an amazing example of our Faith and taught us a love like no other. May you all find comfort knowing she touched so many.

I must admit I remember Mrs. Buchanan more after she taught me in school than of her teaching, 1st grade was a long time ago. But, she was of true heart whenever I was able to see her, beautiful woman inside and out. My prayers to the family.

I'm sorry to hear of Mrs. Buchanan's passing, but I know Heaven received another angel. I was one of the lucky students who had Mrs. Buchanan during the course of her career at St. Michael's. Her classroom was a warm, loving place and she truly instilled in me a love for learning. I don't remember all my teachers, but I do remember her. She, along with a few others, inspired me to be an educator. She set a wonderful example of how we should not only love our students, but also all people. My thoughts and prayers to all family during this time.

We're sorry for your loss Scott, Pete and the Buchanan family, and trust that you take comfort in celebrating a rich, inspiring life. Like Lorraine, Mary B. and all the other Plymouth "moms" who guided us through our youth, Bette had a profound, positive impact on countless lives.

Bette, may you rest in peace and enjoy your richly deserved reward.

We will all be called to leave to leave this world someday, but few of us will have left so much to so many...

Bette truly was a "Saint". She had a gift of making everyone who came in contact with her feel special. She didn't need to speak of her faith for it to be evident. You could just sense it. She was a loving influence on countless people, including the friends of Pete, Scott, Patty and Larry. We were always warmly welcomed in the Buchanan home, and we will remember her with love and respect.
