Dear Uncle Bill and Cousins,

We are thinking of you with love and sympathy at this difficult time. Aunt Norma was such a wonderful person and I think fondly of our childhood together with family picnics and holidays. Mom and Dad are not up to making the trip to be with you all, but we will be with you in our thoughts and prayers.
Much love to all,
Nancy and David Grigsby

I am saddened to read of Norma's passing. She and Bill were always nice to my Mother on Kenwood. I remember her smile and happiness she radiated. You have lots of memories of her and your family.

Dear Bill & Family,

Thinking of you and our beloved Norma with sadness.

Norma was a client of mine for many years when I worked at Steve's Beauty Salon. She was a wonderful person and I always enjoyed her spirit and joy of life. I will remember her smile. May she soar with the angels!

Dear Spencer Family:

What a wonderful legacy your wife, mom and grandmother leaves in all of you... I remember her well from "the neighborhood" which was our world when growing up... She had a contagious smile, a twinkle in her eye and a quality about her that made all feel welcome and special. Unfortunately I will be out of town on Saturday but want to share my appreciation for your mom and touch she had on so many lives. I think the following poem says it best:

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints in our hearts,
and We are never, ever the same.

Prayers with all of you as you celebrate the life of a special lady.... Fondly,

To Norma's family:
I am thoroughly embarrassed by my public gaffe at what otherwise was a beautiful funeral for Norma today. Other funerals I have attended where comments are asked for have had some lined up in advance by family and/or friends and I wish I had asked before the service if this would be done. As I thought about my experiences with Norma this favorite of mine popped into my head and I guess I thought I'd break the ice for the others who would speak. At least I could have added to what I said Norma's many good characteristics - always cheerful, kind, helpful, dependable, her faith in God always apparent. Oh how I wish I could take back my goof. I have asked the Lord for forgiveness, and I hope you will forgive me too. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as you adjust to life without the physical presence of dear Norma.

Dear Betty,
I am Norma's grandaughter, and I enjoyed the story. It just shows how she was a giving wife and mother, by shortning her time in the restroom so their would be time for others. She was a great person and will be missed! As a mother myself I related to the story. Thanks so much for your story and your courage to tell a story when no one else could.
