I first met Doc while hosting a jam session at Anchor Inn in South Bend, Indiana several years ago. Doc became a regular at the jam sessions and follwed us around to several different locations. During that time he introduced me and Lucy to his lovely wife Betty. This was a match made in heaven if there ever was one. Doc was like a big brother to me, and I enjoyed every gig we worked together. Doc, I so much look forward to that next gig we play togeher in heaven. You were one of the nicest friends that I have ever known and I shall miss you evry time I step on the bandstand. Rest well my friend......Mike Vaszari

I always enjoyed spending time ith Doc and his wife, Betty at the various jam sessions hosted by my friend Mike Vaszari's group The Blu-Jazz Quartet. Betty and Family,

Fifty years ago, at age 16, Doc asked me to play trumpet in his band. For the next 2 years we played music all over northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. Those were great times and Doc was a true showman. Everywhere we played, the people loved him. I'll never forget the time Doc booked us in a club in Michigan. We didn't realize it until people kept asking us to play a polka that it was a Polish club, and we only knew one polka. We played that polka several times that night and the crowd loved it. Doc just had a way of entertaining any group and they all loved him. I will always be greatful for those years of making music with Doc.

Kathryn and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family and pray that God will comfort you as you grieve the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather.

Sincerely,
Larry and Kathryn Fish
