Sister Roselia La Plume, PHJC, 89, died at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2001, in the Catherine Kasper Home, at the Community of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Donaldson, Ind.
The daughter of Joseph and Barbara Foog La Plume, Sister Roselia was born in Chicago, Ill., on October 9, 1912.
She entered the convent on June 27, 1929, and professed her first vows on June 25, 1931.
Sr. held a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education and served the ministry of education as teacher for 45 years, teaching in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. She also was a tutor in Belle Plaine, Minnesota for 11 years, and an administrator in Milwalkee, Wisconsin for 6 years, retiring in 1993 to the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.
Sr. Roselia is survived by a sister and her husband, Sue and David Schmitz of Carlyle, Ill., and one niece.
Friends may call at the Catherine Kasper Home to celebrate her life on Tuesday, December 18, 2001, from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December, 19, 2001 at the Catherine Kasper Chapel. Fathers Edward Konerman, S.J. and Anthony Gillespie will Officiate.
Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson, Indiana.
