Mildred I. Bernero

March 24, 1923 - April 16, 2013

 

       Mildred I. "Millie" Bernero, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 16, 2013 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
      
       Born in Argos, IN. on March 24, 1923, Mildred was the daughter of Harman and Margaret (Weidner) Zahm.
      
       She graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1941.
      
       On Sept. 2, 1948, in Plymouth, Mildred and Louis J. Bernero were married. Louis preceded her in death in 1999.
      
       She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Plymouth. She along with her husband, had owned and operated two local restaurants the Robin Hood in Plymouth and then Louie’s Tavern in Argos.
      
       The couple then resided in Ft. Myers, Florida for 24 years.
      
       Mildred is survived by her three children and four grandchildren. They are: Dr. John R. Bernero and Janet of Culver.
      
       Mary M. (Henry) Chamberlin-Gilliam, Charleston, SC and children: Kedric (Stephanie) Chamberlin, Charleston, SC, Kimberly Chamberlin and Chris Cook, Rhinelander, WI.
      
       Susan B. (Rod) Kubley, Plymouth and their children: James Kubley, Indianapolis, and Rachel (Shaun) Johnston, Elkhart.
      
       Four great-grandchildren survive as well: Jordan, Kedric Jr., Tyler and Cameron.
      
       Nadine (Zahm) Landis, Plymouth, a sister-in-law, also survives.
      
       In addition to her spouse, Mildred’s parents and her brother, Robert Zahm, preceded her in death.
      
       Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. on Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 613 N. Center Street, Plymouth.
      
       A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred will follow the visitation at 11 am in the Church with Father William Kummer officiating.
      
       Interment will be in the New Oakhill Mausoleum, Plymouth.
