Dorothy E. "Dot" Neidig, 91, a resident of McQueen's Addition in Plymouth, passed away Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012 in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center - Plymouth Campus.
Dot was born in Plymouth on September 29, 1920, the daughter of Samuel R. and Edith N. (Neff) Phillips.
Raised in Plymouth, she was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1938. She then completed cosmetology school and worked in that field for a short time prior to her marriage to Donald K. Neidig on October 16, 1941 in Columbia City, Indiana. From that time forward she was a homemaker who worked alongside her husband in the family owned company; Indiana Tool, (ITAMCO) serving as the corporate secretary.
She will be remembered by those who knew her as a prayer warrior for all. Together with her husband Don they were charter members of the Grace Baptist Church and active servants.
Dot was quick witted, who enjoyed painting scenery in oils, was an accomplished seamstress, and she loved various animals especially cats.
Surviving is Don, her husband of over 70 years along with a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Noble L. and Barbara Neidig of Plymouth and nephews and nieces that became their “children”. They are: Gary L. and Robin Neidig of Plymouth, Mark A and Debbie Neidig of Erie, PA, David K. and Penny Neidig of Plymouth, Daniel A. and Melissa “Noele” Neidig of Plymouth, Stephen L. and Christine Neidig of Salt Lake City, UT and Phillip L. and Elizabeth Neidig of Laguna Hills, CA. Numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Lowell and Joann Neidig.
Family services will take place.
